Matcha is pure green tea in powdered form. It is harvested and grown differently than regular green tea. The tea plants are specially shaded from direct sunlight before harvest. This amplifies production of chlorophyll and amino acids. After harvesting, the fresh leaves are steamed, dried and stone ground to powder.
